Product Description

Yoga Monster mat goes Eco! For those who want a more eco-friendly mat, our fantastic Yoga Monster mat is now environmentally friendly. We call it Clean PVC tm an eco friendly yoga mat made of PER (Polymer Environmental Resin), which is a unique material that is more sensitive to the environment and your health than yoga mats made of standard PVC foam. This mat does not contain toxic phthalates, dioxins and furans, phenal, or heavy metals and has a ecologically safer method of production which is better for the workers and the environment - and most importantly it performs great for all types of yoga with excellent traction and cushion!

SGS Tested and Certified.
Why should you be concerned about exposure to Phthalates? Because phthalates have been linked to a variety of health problems including endocrine disruption, obesity, diabetes and allergies. Studies from many continents indicate serious toxicity and health problems due to phthalate plastizers found in consumer products. Common plastics, such as pvc foam used in typical yoga mats can contain 10% to 60% phthalates. Phthalates migrate to the surface of the mat over time and use which increases phthalate concentration on the yoga mat surface. Our CleanPVC tm yoga mats are SGS certified tested to non-measurable levels and far exceed the strict European phthalate standards. Using our CleanPVC Yoga Monster mat you can forget about phthalates and heavy metals and simply relax and enjoy your yoga practice.

4 out of 5 stars Color and thickness as expected!   June 3, 2010
Katrina A. Kaszpurenko (Durango, CO 81301)
First of all, I ordered this as a second mat, to leave at my boyfriend's house if I want to stretch or get some pilates/yoga in during the morning. I ordered the mat because of the thickness and it came in so many colors. I ordered in Sunset Orange and the color is exactly what you see (no losing this in his closet of sleeping bags, tents, and sports equipment) and the color is really fun! The mat is nice and thick, very comfy for doing stretching on.
One notation: you get what you pay for. This mat was $17 and it is pretty decent quality for seventeen dollars, with that said, I have a higher-quality mat (Giam) that doesn't seem to impress as much as this one. For example, standing poses, on this mat, I sink in and leave feet imprints that don't seem to re-form as quickly as my other mat.
Again, color is fun and the mat is nice and thick.

3 out of 5 stars Average Mat   June 1, 2010
Stephanie A. Simons (Denver)
When I got this mat, I initially really liked it. The color is beautiful and it's nice and thick. However, halfway through the first practice, I found my hands slipping. It was really distracting. I can always use my hot yoga full-size mat towel to avoid this, but it just wasn't what I was expecting from a brand new mat.

Arrived quickly! The mat came in a variety of colors and offers just the right thickness and grip for what I need. Wipes clean easily and rolls up nicely for storage.

4 out of 5 stars Great price for a beginners or occasional use mat   May 26, 2010

I ordered 10 of these mats to supply a new yoga class I'm teaching.

On the whole, they are perfectly reasonable mats for occasional use. They had a mild rubber smell, which wore off quickly. They provide a good degree of padding and reasonable slip resistance. Certainly doesn't compete with a higher end jade or manduka mat, but this is a great price point for something that doesn't have any big problems.

The extra length is a big bonus for taller practitioners and surprising to find at this price.

They provide a little more padding/springiness than I might recommend for an intermediate or advanced practitioner. If you practice frequently, it is probably worth splurging on something more specialized.

If you tend to sweat heavily and/or practice in a hot room, you'll probably need a towel or a practice rug to throw on top of it.

1 out of 5 stars Boooooo!   May 20, 2010

This mat sucks. Thick sure, but it has no stickyness to it. I don't even do hot yoga, but it is warm in the room and I was sliding ALL over it. I had to put towels down. Also, it's thickness is weird. It kind of molds to your hands and feet so when you try to reposition, you sink back into where you were. This mat is cheap for a reason. Beware.
