Product Description
Linksys' Ultra RangePlus Wireless-N Broadband Router is actually three devices in one box. First, there's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally, the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection.

5 out of 5 stars Great when paired with DD-WRT   July 30, 2010
Peter M. Krzystek (Columbus, OH)
The included software was too basic and nagging for my tastes, but this router is cheap, fast, and has excellent range.

5 out of 5 stars Can't be beat!   July 29, 2010
P. Brandt (NYC)
I got this router since I ordered a new laptop with wireless N. I got the router before the laptop, so set it up on my current wireless G computer. Speed increased dramatically on downloads, only limited by my ISP provider now. Large files download @ 15MbS now, old G router was limited. Can't wait to set it up on the new computer once I get it. I did install the software as mentioned in other reviews. It was simple and fast.

5 out of 5 stars Sleek Looking Router   July 28, 2010
Sahira Fontana (Bronx NY)
This router is sexy looking and the speed is nice but theres 1 thing which really isnt a issue.if i sit in the same room with it the speed is 60% but if i go in another room i have more speed kinda odd.but not a problem

3 out of 5 stars Version 2 does not support UPnP properly on Windows 7   July 27, 2010

I bought this router hoping to get either version 1 or 3 so I could run 3rd party firmware (dd-wrt). I ended up with version 2 which does not support dd-wrt. Unfortunately even with the up to date stock firmware, version 2 of this router does not support UPnP properly on Windows 7. The router icon would also disappear from my network folder in Windows 7 - so it became impossible to even check what the current UPnP port bindings were.

Save yourself some aggravation and buy a refurbished WRT160N from a seller that can guarantee that you will get version 3 of this router. The stock firmware on version 3 DOES support UPnP properly on Windows 7. Additionally you have the option of running third party firmware to get more features.

N.B. Those of you buying this router for dd-wrt should be aware that it only has 4MB of flash memory so you will not be able to run the full blown version of dd-wrt firmware (for example the IPv6 and JFFS2 features are not jointly available for this router). Heavy duty hackers might want to opt for a router with more flash memory - especially those who want to experiment with IPv6 tunneling (JFFS2 is useful for debugging)
