Best movie purchase I've ever made for my kids! July 17, 2010 Nathalie Schwab My kids (6 & 8) are obsessed with Lego's. I purchased this as a surprise for them for an upcoming 13 hour road trip to our vacation destination. They were so excited and ended up watching it over and over, in between naps. They love it! Great movie, but a little disappointed there aren't more for my kids to enjoy!
"Scary,.... but funny too!" July 16, 2010 Aquarius That's how our 5 year old rated this movie. Long story short: We came to realize that he gets nervous when he finds a character is in danger. Like when Clutch is dealing with the rock monster, or later when Clutch encounters the goblin (who gobbles him up), or when the Lego-team is battling the wizard. He's not particular fond of fire-spewing dragons either. Perhaps he's still a bit too young to watch this movie alone.
In spite all this he still likes this movie a lot. While nervous, he still laughs through the "scary" parts. He loves the skeletons, especially two silly ones, and the black one on the horse at the end. But he only watches the movie if I, or his mom, or elder sisters watches it with him.
I do find it indeed a nice and fun movie for kids. As reviewer Leah (mom of 2), pointed out in her review, there are some lines and words used in it, that I also could have lived without (especially for 4 or 5 year olds). But not real big deal. It's also full of action. It's fun. I'm thinking older then 5 year kids may like this movie more, but if watch with parents the very young ones (4 and 5 year) will also still like it a lot.
Since our 5 year old is a bit scared by it, I feel I can't rate 5 stars, but since he still likes it a lot, I rate it 4 stars.
Tip: It might be handy to have some Lego around, when kids watch this movie. Our son is not a particular Lego kid. Does play with Lego from time to time, but I would not say it's his favorite toy. But this movie is always an inspiration to play with Lego after watching it.
Thnks for reading.
Ps. I'm actually very surprised this is the first Lego movie. I mean, I know they have several Lego computer games, so I thought for sure they had already produce movies. Apparently not. I guess Playmobil beat Lego on bringing out a movie then. Sometime ago we got the Playmobil: The Secret of Pirate Island Playmobil pirates DVD for our son. He actually likes the Playmobil one very much. I guess that has to do with the Pirates theme. He's all in to pirates lately. But it's a fun movie too, with lots of fun and entertaining songs. He liked it a lot and wasn't scared at any moment. He watches it alone all the time. You can read my review on it.
Perfect for the Lego Fan June 22, 2010 MC2 (St. Paul, MN United States) My 5 year-old son loves legos and plays with them all the time. This movie was perfect for him. He recognized a bunch of the kits/pieces (Power Miners). And he was excited for the new stuff too. There is just enough of a story to follow, and plenty of action. He's watched the movie 3-4 times, and could watch it a bunch more.
Fun Movie June 9, 2010 K. Lobet (Carnation, WA USA) Our kids, ages 4 to 8, really enjoyed this movie. The teamwork messaging is great, however, there are a few lines that I wish they had left out in addition to the belching. There were a few "scarry" parts that went over better on the second viewing. Overall, it's a fun movie that works the Lego building theme throughout. Quality is great.
Fun movie that my son just loves!! June 4, 2010 D. Wylie (Denver, CO) After so many hours enjoying the Lego games and the funny gestures and actions by the characters we were all very entertained by the movie. Good story, funny characters and G-Rated but not lame, it was a great addition to my kid's love of Lego's.
