Product Description Eric Carle. Now even younger children can follow the little green caterpillar as he eats his way to becoming a beautiful butterfly in this sturdy board book. Trim size 5.06" x 7.02".
Amazon.com Review "In the light of the moon a little egg lay on a leaf." So begins Eric Carle's modern classic, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. More than 12 million copies of this book have been sold in its original, full-sized edition, and the beloved tale of science and gluttony has been translated into 20 languages. This five-by-four-inch miniature edition is truly tiny, with tiny type, but it is a nice size for small hands to hold and flip through the pictures. Despite its diminished state, the book is complete in every detail, following the ravenous caterpillar's path as he eats his way through one apple (and the pages of the book itself) on Monday, two pears on Tuesday, three plums on Wednesday, and so on, through cherry pie and sausage--until he is really fat and has a stomachache. And no doubt you know what happens next! Kids love butterfly metamorphosis stories, and this popular favorite teaches counting and the days of the week, too. A fun gift package for caterpillar fans. Large Book requires adult supervision! August 26, 2010 Jonathan Then (New York City, NY) This is a beautiful book, lots of pop ups and intricate detail. however it is not for your little one to read alone, not unless you want your pop ups destroyed. Great visual aids for children if you are reading to them, pricey but a worthwhile investment. If you want a book for your child to read I suggest the board book version of this one.
good book and service August 14, 2010 lisee The little boy who received this book loved it so much. It took a couple of weeks for it to arrive from the time I ordered it, but the child didn't know any better. he was happy. I am too. The seller was gracious-bookseller72135-and e-mailed me about the shipping time right after I ordered. All in all happy people every where.
Board Book PERFECT Option for Babies July 13, 2010 Jarucia Jaycox Nirula (Seattle, WA, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a perennial staple in the children's books collection I've amassed over the years.
When my son started showing interest in being read-to, I pulled out my trusty old, paperback version of this book.
BIG NO NO with a teething baby.
Our local children's librarian said that it's a great idea to allow babies to explore 'reading' with all senses, including mouth.
As my little guy liked the imagery enough to eat, I opted for the board version of this book and am VERY pleased with it...so is my baby's hungry little mouth :)
Great Book - long wait July 9, 2010 Bella33 I ordered this book as a baby shower gift. I ordered it exactly 10 business days prior to the shower. My book came in 1.5 weeks later. I had to buy a different book at Borders for the shower. This book is great, however - just not getting it almost a month after it is ordered.
Pop-up caution June 17, 2010 Sofia Celic (Seattle, WA, USA) I love this book. I remember it from my childhood and want it for my child. I ordered the pop-up edition and found the pop-up components were already damaged upon delivery. I think some of the pop-ups in this version would not last long with children handling it. I have returned the product and will look for the sturdy board book version with holes.
