But as President Mack Williams sends ships of the U.S. Seventh Fleet towards the Malacca Straights to reassert control over the sea lanes, will Navy JAG officers Zack Brewer and Diane Colcernian survive this dangerous and final high-stakes drama of life and death? You won't be able to put this thriller down until you find out.

Great Action-Packed Thriller September 10, 2010 Earl Phillips Love this novel from start to finish. Super action and a great ending! Highly recommended!
Interesting, Entertaining, Compelling September 9, 2010 DC Rivenbark Don Brown spins interesting, entertaining and credible yarns. This one is particular compelling given the incredible events of 9/11/2001, the recent gulf oil spill and the impending arming of Iran with a nuclear capability. Anyone who doesn't "shake in his boots" after reading this novel must have spent his recent years incommunicado. Don's plots are exceptional and surprising. The reader has to be taken to Gag Island before he has the wits necessary to figure why this remote island has any bearing whatsoever on the author's tale.
The plot of Malacca Conspiracy, like the author's earlier works, is tightly wound and slowly developed using a style that features plot input data from a variety of accurately described geographic locations. As a travel enthusiast, an added element of entertainment from reading the book was "visiting", via internet, the various sites the author describes in Singapore, Jakarta, Karachi, and even Gag Island , West Papua, Indonesia. Warning - I think St Stephen's catholic church in Jakarta is a figment of the author's imagination!
The author's main characters, Zack and Diane, have been rode too hard and put up wet too many times during the course of this series. They put a real strain on character credibility by their too good looks, their unreal ability to travel with the SEALS, and their unrealistic relationships with higher authority. They should be blown away at the earliest opportunity and replaced with character(s) who have more potential for development.
I rate the book as a 4.5 star effort.
Malacca Malarkey- I rated this book one star because... September 6, 2010 Christian Blackman 0 out of 19 found this review helpful
...there was no option for NO stars. At its best, this book was a mediocre faux thriller, at its worst a poorly written, thoughtless diatribe of sexist, racist, and religious ignorance. I mourn the loss of my $10 and would have preferred to have had it taken from me in the lunch line by the class bully...
BTW- I blame all of you 5 star givers (if you really exist) for tricking me into this purchase, and invite you to read a real book sometime, try John le Carre.
There are better things to read September 4, 2010 Nicholas N. Kraushaar (La Quinta, CA USA) 2 out of 16 found this review helpful
The story and plot are very predictable and transparent. All in all not a memorable read.
Zondervan strikes again!

This purveror of Christian tripe has snuck another one out by offering a freebie.
Its hard to add to the other negative reviews coming before me, all of which I agree wholeheartedly.
The only positive thing can say is the story moves along quickly. That is until some nausea inducing scripture or invocation of Jesus and/or God brings things to a sreeching halt.
Suspend all logic and belief when starting since there are so many inaccuracies and plotline holes to contend with that you will be left shaking your head.
And that ending! Yuk! I have never read anything so trite and predictable.
